So we decided to do the draw for the postboxes yesterday. It was probably the most exciting moment of my whole life. Luke asked me to tally the votes, and by God did I step up. I approached the red (very well- made and trendy) postbox, gripped the tiny lock with my sweaty hands, and turned the key… What happened next is not something I am proud of. I soon found myself buried under a massive pile of papers, sobbing and terrified. After Luke had talked me down from the air- vent, we began the draw.
I recalled a certain paper cut that was worse than the others. It had come from something harder; sharper even. Upon inspection of the pile, it became evident that the blood drenched postcard from George South had caused the ruckus and the gash on my right thigh. Luke drew it out of the pile, washed his hands and announced proudly that SONJA STRAUSS had not only won the first postbox, but was also partially to blame for me feeling faint (from blood loss). The growing crowd reached fever pitch as Luke announced bullishly that we would draw again… the elation of the 60000 strong crowd fell into a lul, as Luke reached down into the pile, swirled his hand around (against my advice) and extracted a name… the tension was palpable. James thrives when tension is high and magically appeared at the door, glanced at Luke and I and shouted “MICHELLE STEEL!”. Some people may say that he has psychic powers. How could he have known that it was Michelle Steel and that their was a room full of tension? I ask myself this, and still today am hard- pressed for an answer.
You can still get one these babies though. Just come on in for a coffee and buy one! (R450)

We have been training a seal to make coffee. From his humble beginning in Hout Bay Harbour, we were able to socialise this seal slowly, but surely. He usually manages to engage quite politely on a human level, but every so often, when he gets a wif of my new PECKS ANCHOVETTE sandwich he loses it. Now it’s usually over so quickly that we don’t ever catch him in a relapse, but this time I was able to get a glimpse into the heart of the beast. Please only click on the link below if you are not afraid of wild animals and if you over the age of 18.

There’s really no easy way to say this. By Joe this could be the hardest thing I’ve had to do since my prolific 2009 Mt. Everest Summit Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (MESWBT). They said I couldn’t do it then, and they said it this time as well. Well, here I am. Prices are up. Yes, that’s right. it’s finally happened. I haven’t had a minute to work it out yet, but it may actually now be cheaper to stay at home, then drink a coffe here. R10 is a thing of the past. But the future… that’s the exciting bit.
We are now open on Saturdays 09:00- 13:00. This is mainly due to the fact that we realised that other coffee shops open on these blank days that Pedersen + Lennard usually reserve for cutting edge, functional design; and I reserve for my emerging career as a classically trained concerto pianist.
You’ll now receive even friendlier service (I know, sounds impossible)
You’ll feel classier sitting at a Birch table, enjoying your skinny, soy milk, decaf, Rooibos tea and ginseng latte, on our new darker coloured painted floor
You’ll be able to be early for work and enjoy our old prices from 07:00- 09:00n daily. (R10 any coffee)
You’ll notice a change in the Sandwiches*
*possibly
You’ll get 1,89667 times more coffee and working on Pythagorus’ theorum you’ll get 10x the enjoyment.
It’s maths, Dummy

After the kind and rather elaborate introduction we got as the “young and talented” duo behind the scenes of the beloved Field Office, we thought it best to enlighten the followers of Will’s Sandwiches to some of his background and more importantly THE MOMENT when his sandwich dreams (which keep us on our feet every day) became reality..
It all started while ‘on a break’ from class for a few weeks to ‘get some fresh air’ our young, talented Will found himself wandering in a forest outside Knysna (a very quaint seaside town, a must-see for all traveling the garden route..) While out barefoot foraging only the freshest ingredients that the earth provides, our dear Hob stumbled upon a sandwich factory complete with all the necessary tools one needs to construct a great sandwich. So as he started seeing his life-purpose unfold in front of his very eyes he began with uncontrollable vigor to dance, and friends, let me tell you that WILL CAN DANCE!
While this was happening James and I were actually out strolling the forest as we do periodically, brushing up on our #Q!ug dialect and discussing other things in many of the worlds 19 lost languages. Hearing the commotion in Knysna’s Dreamcatcher Factory (Will still swears it was a sandwich factory) we rushed in to find Will in his moment of pure elation.. and wham! Will’s Sandwiches and the Field Office was born.. and the rest as you know is history.
Yours in true-story telling,
The Giants
(I can feel it coming)
(Yes it’s going be be great)
(I’m going to make people the BEST SANDWICHES EVER)
(and love every moment of it)
(My destiny!)

Good Day, but probably better because of these two great minds.
Pedersen + Lennard are a young, talented, innovative design duo hailing from the rocky cliff faces of the other side of Table Mountain- the side when it doesn’t really look like a table at all. It is strange then, that these two Waldorf educated “free thinkers” have managed to capture exactly what a table should be. Flat. They have managed to throw together a flat pack range out of a tiny factory in the greater Salt River Metropolitan area. Eating and sleeping in the same factory for the first 20 months, they became very close. So close, in fact, that Luke has promised to name his son James, and James too has promised to name his son after Luke. However, the child will probably take Luke’s second name, David as James does not respond well to alliteration, and Luke Lennard would simply “drive him nuts”.
These two fine men met by chance when Luke, somewhat prematurely, tried to become the first man to complete his Phd in 19 of the worlds lost languages. James taught Luke the language of the #Q!ug people at Cape Town Technical University and the two immediately sparked up a friendship. this later turned into a passionate relationship about furniture. Luke says, “I think the reason we both loved the #Q!ug so much, was simply because all they spoke about was design”. the #Q!ug people were in fact laying the foundations for a design duo ready to achieve greatness. Some of their achievements include some fancy certificates from Design Indabas past, a small trophy in their office (not sure if it is related) and an award winning cafe run by a C- grade celebrity. They also have managed to make all their furniture so flat pack, that they hold the Guniess World Record* for managing to fit 20 tables into a matchbox.
One does not have to look far to see that Pedersen + Lennard have it all figured out. They employ 5 of the most amazing, brilliant, diligent and committed men you could ever meet. Not only does that contribute to the economy, but it also insures that P+L stay on top.
So maybe come on down to the FO and perhaps bump into these pioneering GIANTS!
let’s go.

it’s only hours away. NIC OBI lands on Thursday night! 6PM! WHAT?! believe. he has gracefully taken some time out of his on- going plan for world domination to show us some of his pictures. how exciting? very exciting. now… i’m not too sure how many humans have seen these photos and i’m no expert, but judging by the subliminal messages he’s been showing me in my cereal they look like they could be off the chains.
so basically, we are having a huge party here on Thursday to celebrate the three score and tenth birthday of this OBI, as well as show off his fancy art. please join us, it’s going to be amazing! and if it isn’t at least there’s free booze, we all win!
DJ’s:
DJ Narch of Ph FAT fame
DJ ME (provided i am allowed to after all the alcoholic fruit snow i would’ve drunk)
more DJ ME (see above)

SO here i am… wired. writing this drifting in and out of consciousness trying to remember if NIC OBI really did come over for a game of jenga and some peri- peri prawns last night just before we went sky diving… (he’s just that kind of guy, i think) after spending the entire night trying to find a picture NIC OBI, i managed to come up with these…
(he’s the one on the left)
(maybe?)
(probably)
(possibly?)
after some digging, searching, pleading, crying and then searching some more, i’m convinced this is NIC OBI in the form he occupies today.
(definitely.)
ya ok, so maybe he has square muscles and is kind of freaky, but his photos are apparently amazing. we are getting a whole bunch in here on 17th MARCH. cool hey?
yours in hunting OBI
